 Since its inception in 1987, the Phuket King's Cup Regatta
has grown to become Asia's premier yacht racing event.
The combination of serious racing and plain, good old fun attracts about
80 boats annually, with serious racing craft coming from Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia,
Malaysia and the Philippines. Many passing yachts also enter.
 Traditionally held in early December, the Regatta was
conceived to honour His Majesty the King of Thailand's 60th birthday. Now 14 years on the
event has grown from strength to strength, in both size and reputation, boasting the
largest contingent of keel boats, multi-hulls and traditional craft seen in South East
Asia.
This year is the 14th Anual Event and as with all events of this size the
preparation is ongoing. It is set for Sunday 3rd of December to Saturday the 9th of
December 2000.
